Amazon has officially announced that commingling practices will be discontinued across the supply chain starting March 31, 2026. Along with this, the eligibility rules for using manufacturer barcodes are being updated.
For years, commingling allowed Amazon to ship customer orders from the nearest matching inventoryโregardless of which seller supplied itโto speed up delivery. But as seller inventory levels have become stronger and more widely distributed, Amazon can now maintain fast delivery speeds without relying on commingling.
Hereโs what the new policy means for you:
๐น For Brand Owners (Brand Registry โ Brand Representative role):
If your products already include a manufacturer barcode (UPC, ISBN, etc.), youโll no longer need to apply Amazon barcode stickers to avoid commingling. This gives you more flexibility and removes the need to pre-allocate units for Amazon vs. other sales channels.
๐น For Resellers (not registered as brand representatives):
You will now be required to apply Amazon barcode stickersโeven if the product has a manufacturer barcode. If youโre already using Amazon barcodes, you can continue your current workflow.
๐น For Products Without Manufacturer Barcodes:
Both brand owners and resellers must apply Amazon barcode stickers for these items.
