Amazon has officially announced the removal of deprecated and irrelevant variation themes across marketplaces.
๐ Timeline:
- Rollout begins: September 2, 2025
- Completion by: November 30, 2025
โ ๏ธ What this means for sellers:
- Variation themes marked as โDeprecated: Do Not Useโ will no longer be accepted.
- Any listing updates using these outdated themes will throw errors (e.g., โvalue specified is invalidโ).
- Parent/Child relationships using invalid variation themes may break, leaving products listed as stand-alone ASINs.
โ Action Required:
- Audit your listings to identify ASINs using deprecated variation themes.
- Remove or replace incorrect attributes (Parentage, Variation Theme Name, Parent SKU, etc.).
- If needed, create a new Parent ASIN using a valid variation theme and reassign the children.
- Update your flat files, bulk uploads, or SP-API integrations accordingly.
๐ Why it matters:
Clean, compliant variation structures improve customer experience, protect your listings from suppression, and ensure your catalog remains future-proof.
